Minneapolis is the largest city in Minnesota, with a population of about 374,000. In a 2005 issue of Popular Science the publication determined Minneapolis, MN to be the "Top Tech City" in the United States. It is home to major corporations such as Target, U.S. Bancorp and General Mills.
Residents enjoy several freshwater lakes across the southern part of the city, particularly the "Chain of Lakes" consisting of Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, Lake of the Isles. Cedar Lake. Lake Nokomis and Lake Hiawatha lie farther to the east. Minneapolis has a large park system formed by ten square miles of land and water that is interlinked in many places. The Grand Rounds Scenic Byway circles through the city and brings together many of the bigger park areas. It is the first natural scenic byway totally located in a major urban area.
